Mission: From the Darkness
Location: Somers Quarters
Timeline: Current

[ON]

Alex was in her quarters, during her off duty hours, preparing her evening meal when as she turned she smiled "hello there you lot, I am surprised you are here!" she looked down as she continued to potter around a little before looking back up.

"You know, it is going to be nice to have someone to share my thoughts with during this quiet time *pauses* I may go from topic to topic at random moments, but I will try to keep it coherent as much as possible" Alex paused as she spoke to the replicator "one Mug of tea standard" she said and when the beverage appeared she picked it up and blew on it a bit before taking a tentative sip before looking back at the reader.

"Sometime back before I was assigned to the Powell, I married my childhood sweetheart and have not yet told anyone, we both agreed upon this, myself and Paul, oh that is Lieutenant Paul Sharpe a Security Officer on Starbase 332, *misty-eyed look* it was nice and romantic on how he popped the question, he was on leave and we were out for a walk around the large grounds of my family home and were in the Gazebo in the middle of the ground when he got down on one knee and held out this beautiful ring and asked the question, of course I said yes *small smile and takes another sip of her tea and looks at the reader* I told my dad and mom and my dad only had one thing to say before he gave me a bear hug "it's about damn time that lad asked the question" he said to me, my mom just cried and hugged me" Alex paused as she pottered around a bit and gathered her thoughts.

Then she looked back up "well the wedding went ahead and all who could be invited was and only a few declined as they could not get away from their work at the time, but still it was a nice wedding and an even better reception, we even managed to have a weeks honeymoon, which was glorious, but all too soon it was back to the grindstone, well it was for Paul, my assignment was still on earth at SFHQ, I so miss the days when I could crack heads, it is a bit gung-ho I know, but hey, what is a girl to do. My days of being a rebel is over and now I am having to face grown-up responsibilities, which include toeing the line so it is no strange thing that the holodeck has been getting a lot of use" Alex paused as she went to the food replicator and replicated some food and another hot drink for herself and this gave her time to pause and think.

Then she continued "the preparations for the upcoming wedding were crazy, I had to contact some old friends and such, I know Paul had to do the same but he could not invites his parents, sadly they passed when he was young so his Aunt and Uncle who raised him and some other family were invited, I did not realise his family was so small, but despite the different worlds we come from we found each other, like a modern Romeo and Juliet *looks Meh and shrugs* without the unfortunate ending they had... I hope. Papa had to invite ambassadors and their Aides, I wonder what Paul thinks of this, he grew up in lower caste hosing and I grew up amongst politicians and attended diplomatic functions, this is my world, not his. But I feel his proposal meant that he accepted my world *looks wistfully* then again he does know a point in my tragic past and how long it took me to forgive Starfleet Intelligence on their blunder, that mission cost me the one friend I loved more than anyone outside of my family, that was a sad day when we brought Annabel's coffin back home" Alex paused.

"Eventually when the big day came there was my family on one side and important people on the other side, I think Paul would have been happy with a small wedding, but the large wedding was worth it as on the day I could swear that upon seeing Paul standing there in a vintage suite and I walking down the aisle in a vintage style white wedding gown. *pause* I am told that not every female can carry off vintage outfits, but I am told that I can, in fact, I do actually prefer old style clothes to that of modern ones" she paused.

She continued his fourth wall break

"All in all it was a great day we both said our oaths, the wedding dinner went well I noticed Paul was being chatted up by a Jasmine Allen, she was flirting with him like crazy he looked so helpless *laughs* I do feel sorry for him as he serves on the same station as she does so when I roast her, the flirty young woman then remained within herself for most of the time after that until the music started and damn she was flirting up all the single males, myself and Paul both cringed when she started flirting with a Trill Ambassador, I simply laughed and I went over to Paul and spoke as I put my arm around him and him, me."

"What she is doing is harmless, I went around warning all the single male Ambassadors about her," I said to my new husband *pause*

"Then it was time for the Father and daughter dance part and for an old warhorse my father could trip the light fantastic. Then it came Mine and Paul's turn and after a few minutes, others joined us on the dancefloor. Eventually the party broke up and all the important persons excused themselves and so did those Starfleet officers who had been invited, it was a little different to weddings of old, but the next day both of us packed some clothes and we went on our short honeymoon, it had to be short as Paul did not have much time left on his shore leave so we made the best of the time we had and it was memorable. *sighs* In the end we returned, Paul bid his farewells and shipped out back to Starbase 332, Jasmine Allen came went with him as she was a marine officer on the starbase here Paul probably had a large dose and found out why she was such a flirt and tease" Alex finished and returned to the sofa as she thought for a moment.

"Then for the next few months I was stuck doing diplomatic duties, I was in my dress uniform, I wore my full regimental uniform of the 95th Rifles, while it was not warranted they did let me continue wearing it and the looks I got from some of the Federation Council members on the occasion I was assisting my father in the chambers, were priceless. However other times I had to wear my standard Starfleet dress uniform, which was a bland version of my Regimental one. Eventually, I was offered a posting here on the Powell as First Officer, it was something new and I was given a crash course in bridge command, the rest, as they say, is history" she paused as she thought on what to say further.

"When I had my medical check-up I told the doctor of my first contact encounter and how I almost died, I could not tell her nor anyone about the mission I did back when I was a Corporal, all those years ago, it was eventful and traumatic, I lost someone I was close to *wipes a tear in remembrance, now on the 11th of November every year I light a candle and place it on the wall memorial at SFHQ on earth, if I am not there then I do the same but on the holodeck with a holo candle and that to my mind satisfies my honour. *pause*

She stands back up and as she heads back to the replicator she turns back to the reader "well that is all I have to impart, for now, I thank you for being an attentive audience" she said with a smile and went into the kitchen area and came back out and looked in surprise "you still here *makes shooing motion with her hand* go, it is over go, go, go" she added and the scene faded to black.

From the darkeness "hey who turned the bloody lights out!" Alex moaned.
